Sequr
Write a server for IoT Devices and convert custom protocol in to a simple to use API.
Sequr (now part of Genea) is an access control product for managing access to buildings like offices and skyscrapers. They started small, managing gated communities with an SMS-based system to give guests temporary access.
They wanted to grow and manage bigger buildings using the well-known HID system. But there was a problem: the HID system was designed in the late 90s, and it is complex.
It communicated via socket connection using a very strange protocol. It was tough for developers to work with.
I was brought in to create a modern RESTful API in front of the device. This way, anyone could easily interact with it from anywhere. I built a custom NodeJS server where the devices would connect. The server would receive API requests, translate them into the old protocol on the fly, and send commands to the right device.
This solution is still working today. It allows the client to keep expanding and managing more buildings without changing anything in the architecture.
Company Testimonial
His understanding of cloud technologies, particularly AWS, is exceptional. We built many proofs of concepts and tools together to see what would work and what would not, which is an important skill for innovation and building MVPs. His communication skills are excellent, and he always provided us with clear solutions and alternatives to our problems. He is an accomplished technology architect, a wise businessperson, and an inspiring leader.
